Terceira is an island in the Portuguese autonomous
region of the Azores, in the middle of the North
Atlantic Ocean. With a population of 57,000 it is the third largest island of
the archipelago. Located on this island is the capital of the Azores, Angra do
Heroísmo. The historic city center is on the Unesco World Heritage list.
