The Fortified Church of Biertan

Biertan fortified church is located in Transylvania. The village of Biertan was first mentioned in a document in 1283, having been founded by the Transylvanian Saxons. The fortified church of Biertan was built between the 15th and 16th centuries. 


Villages with fortified churches in Transylvania is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Biertan is one of the seven villages that comprises this site.
